The former Wolves and Coventry man will now serve a two-match suspension, starting at Selhurst Park and concluding with Tuesday's visit of Leicester. His absence is likely to mean a recall for Michael Chopra.

Anthony Gerrard (calf) and Kevin McNaughton (thigh) continue to miss out but fellow defender Mark Kennedy stands a reasonable chance of making his comeback after a rib problem and will assessed closer to kick-off.

Kelvin Etuhu made the bench against the Blades on Tuesday after a lengthy absence due to ankle problems and he should again be in Dave Jones' 18.

Midfielder Joe Ledley continues to press on with his rehab work having returned to training after a double hip operation and is scheduled to return in April, along with captain Mark Hudson (ankle) who misses the trip to his former employers.
