Chris Hughton's men beat Peterborough 3-2 in the Championship on Saturday, meaning they need just a point against the Blades at St James' Park on Monday night to secure promotion, and leading scorer Carroll is expected to shake off an ankle injury to be involved.

After making five changes against Peterborough, Hughton is preparing to utilise his full squad again, with wingers Jonas Gutierrez and Wayne Routledge, midfielder Danny Guthrie and striker Peter Lovenkrands all hoping to play a part.

Steven Taylor and Fitz Hall both remain on the sidelines with their respective knee injuries.

United are expected to be roared on by a season-high crowd against the Blades, with a return to the top flight just 90 minutes away.
