The Tunisian defender missed the last two matches but has resumed training and is set to challenge Dan Seaborne for his spot at centre-back.
Fellow centre-half Wayne Thomas is also on the mend but is not quite ready to return from the calf injury which has sidelined him for a month. Full-back Graeme Murty is still missing with ankle ligament damage.
Saints suffered no new injuries during Tuesday night's 5-1 win at Bristol Rovers so manager Alan Pardew is unlikely to tinker too much with his starting line-up.
That means strikers Lee Barnard, Papa Waigo and David Connolly - who have scored 41 goals between them this season - are set to start on the bench again.
