The former Shrews skipper underwent an operation on Monday night after fracturing and dislocating his thumb in last weekend's 1-0 win over Dagenham.

McIlroy is hoping to be able to welcome back top scorer Phil Jevons and defender Laurence Wilson, who missed the win against the Daggers.

Mark Duffy should also be fit after being forced to leave the field with a dead leg last weekend.

Last weekend's victory over Dagenham took the Shrimps to the edge of the play-off zone with two games of the season remaining.

McIlroy said: "The lads have done fantastic for little Morecambe to be amongst the big boys."
