Greg Abbott's mid-table Cumbrians side turned the form book upside down as they scored twice in the opening seven minutes to condemn the League One champions to a rare home defeat.

Carlisle stunned another capacity crowd at Carrow Road by taking the lead after just 55 seconds when Gary Madine latched on to a throughball from Jason Price and guided his shot past keeper Fraser Forster.

It got even worse for the Canaries six minutes later when the Cumbrians made it 2-0 as Ian Harte's deep curling free-kick found the back of the net, with Price claiming the final touch.

Paul Lambert's side, who had won 16 out of their previous 18 home matches, had chances to level before the break with Korey Smith wasting the best of them. The young midfielder took the ball round keeper Adam Collin but his shot lacked sufficient pace and was cleared off the line by Harte.

Norwich started the second half well, with Collin saving from Darel Russell, but Carlisle had plenty of the play themselves in the second half and were well worth their win.

A Mailbox of comparisons. Van Gaal is similar to Pardew, Wenger to Moyes, Van Persie to a spent force, and Pelle to a bloody gent. There's also plenty from last night...
