Forest had former Preston captain Paul McKenna leading them out but it was the League Two side who opened the scoring in the 55th minute.

New signing Luke Rodgers had come on at half-time and when Forest defender Wes Morgan slipped he ran on to beat Lee Camp with ease.

Craig Westcarr then crossed for Lee Hughes to double the lead with a powerful header before Lewis McGugan smashed in a long-range strike for Forest.
