Pearce: In contention

Ferguson was unhappy with his side's defending in the 2-0 defeat at Preston on Saturday and may make changes as he welcomes former Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane to London Road.

Utility man Charlie Lee was out of position for both goals at Deepdale and lasted just 33 minutes before being hauled off for Tommy Rowe.

Rowe looks set to start at left-back as Tom Williams is still out with a groin injury and Jamie Day remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

On-loan Birmingham defender Krystian Pearce is also in contention should Ferguson shuffle his pack.

Winger Chris Whelpdale is still out with his hernia problem while forward Ben Wright has an ankle injury.
