With strikers Steve Howard and Martyn Waghorn ruled out through hamstring injuries, new signing Yann Kermorgant could be included after putting pen to paper on a short-term deal.

Fellow striker Paul Dickov will hope to be involved while midfielder Max Gradel and defenders Aleksander Tunchev and Michael Morrison could come into contention.

Pearson said: "There will be changes, no doubt about that. But how many and where they will be, we will have to see. We will have to look at the players and see how they are to see where we are at.

"We have one or two players who need a game. I believe we have good competition within the squad for places and I fully expect whatever side starts to be very competitive and as always we are going there to try to win the game."
