The 11-goal striker served a one-match ban as County crashed to defeat at Rochdale in the league in midweek after he was booked for the fifth time this season in the goalless draw at home to Aldershot.

Ade Akinbiyi replaced Hughes at Spotland but the former West Brom, Coventry and Oldham poacher is likely to go straight back into the starting line-up.

Magpies manager Hans Backe is keen to avoid a replay and wants his side to lay down a marker on the south coast.

"I think it's important we win at the first time of asking and we have the quality to go to Bournemouth and win. The FA Cup is a priority so we will do everything we can to win the game as with the busy schedule coming up that is the best way to do it," said Backe.

"After losing at Rochdale I think it is important to bounce back quickly and show the team that is the top of our league that we are strong and can beat the top teams in the division."

Striker Delroy Facey, a substitute against Rochdale, has joined League Two rivals Lincoln on loan.

You're Man Utd, For Crying Out Loud!

Defending a 0-0 draw with Cambridge on the grounds that other teams lost to lower-league opposition is not befitting of Man United. We're inclined to agree with Mailboxers...
