The midfielder has been struggling due to illness and missed the 1-1 draw against Cardiff last weekend.

Captain Rob Jones remains a doubt with a hamstring injury which has kept him out of the past two league games, so Cliff Byrne and David Mirfin are expected to continue their central-defensive partnership.

Goalkeeper Josh Lillis, a boyhood City fan, kept his place in boss Nigel Adkins' side for the draw against the Bluebirds but will battle it out with fit again number one Joe Murphy for a place in the starting XI.

Defender Kenny Milne remains sidelined with a long-term knee injury.
