The defender sustained an ankle problem in the Saddlers' 2-1 defeat by Brighton last time out and, although he has since been given the all-clear, he missed most of training last week and is rated as doubtful for the clash.

On-loan Manchester City defender Clayton McDonald is on standby to deputise alongside Manny Smith in midfield should Hughes fail to make it.

Hutchings will also check on striker Steve Jones, who has been struggling with a niggling groin problem, but Rhys Weston will come back into the frame following his recovery from a calf injury.

Walsall will be looking to end their winless streak of four league games.
