The Portuguese playmaker, on loan from West Brom, was forced out of Saturday's home defeat to Doncaster with an abdominal strain.

Manager Mark Robins also has doubts about defender Bobby Hassell, who sustained a knock in training on Friday and sat out Saturday's derby, and striker Daniel Bogdanovic, who has been struggling with an ankle injury.

Defender Rob Kozluk, sidelined since late January with a knee injury, has returned to full training and could be included but Robins has revealed he has only 18 fit players available.

Barnsley were leading Plymouth 4-1 at Home Park in November when the game was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch in the 58th minute.
