The midfielder has missed the last two games with a hamstring problem and will continue to be assessed by Howe ahead of the game at Meadow Lane.

Joe Partington (back) played his first game in six weeks as the reserves claimed a 1-1 draw against Forest Green on Monday and the midfielder may make the bench.

Sammy Igoe also featured in the second-string clash and is available for selection, but Jason Pearce faces at least another two to three weeks on the sidelines with a broken bone in his foot.

Long-term absentee Mark Molesley (foot) has started jogging but it is too early to predict his comeback date, while Scott Guyett is still recovering from a knee problem.

Fellow midfielder Shaun Cooper (hip) has been pencilled in for the reserve game against Plymouth on March 23 but, after almost a year out of action, the club will not rush him back.
