Mick McCarthy's side opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Greg Halford fired home a free-kick after Kevin Doyle was brought down by Darren Barr.

Halford was also involved in Wolves' second in the 18th minute, his long throw being met with a bullet header from Stephen Ward, while Doyle saw his shot hit the post in the 73rd minute.

Three minutes later former Hearts captain Christophe Berra was given a great reception from the home fans on his first return to Tynecastle after coming on as substitute.
