Luke Varney's double and a fine goal from Dave Martin saw Derby come from behind to beat Burton Albion 3-1 in their pre-season friendly.

Varney missed a penalty three minutes before half-time and James Ellison made no mistake from the spot after the break to give Burton the lead.

But Varney made amends with a quickfire brace before Martin set off on a mazy solo run and curled a right-footer into the top corner to seal the win.

The Rams were also boosted by Jake Buxton's appearance as a substitute after his spell out injured.
