Arteta: Doubtful for Lane tussle

Arteta: Doubtful for Lane tussle

Tottenham playmaker Rafael van der Vaart returns from suspension for the game against Toffees.

Spurs' new talisman sat out Wednesday night's remarkable 4-3 Champions League defeat at Inter Milan but should come straight back into the side - as should Sandro, who is ineligible for the group stages in Europe.

Captain Ledley King and Vedran Corluka (both groin) are still out, Younes Kaboul could return from a hamstring injury, while Jermain Defoe, Michael Dawson (both ligament damage), Jamie O'Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) are long-term absentees.

Everton manager David Moyes has seen his options further depleted by injury, with Leon Osman definitely out and fellow midfielder Mikel Arteta doubtful.

Osman picked up an ankle problem in last weekend's 2-0 Merseyside derby win over Liverpool and has been ruled out for four to six weeks.

Moyes was already without Marouane Fellaini (hamstring), Jack Rodwell (ankle) and Ross Barkley (broken leg), while Steven Pienaar (groin) and Louis Saha (calf) are both struggling for fitness.

Spurs (from): Gomes, Cudicini, Hutton, Bale, Gallas, Bassong, Kaboul, Jenas, Sandro, Assou-Ekotto, Huddlestone, Lennon, Palacios, Kranjcar, Bentley, Modric, Dos Santos, van der Vaart, Crouch, Keane, Pavyluchenko, Pletikosa.

Everton (from): Howard, Neville, Distin, Heitinga, Baines, Hibbert, Cahill, Arteta, Beckford, Bilyaletdinov, Gueye, Coleman, Yakubu, Mustafi, Silva, Baxter, Wallace, Mucha, Pienaar, Saha.
