Chris Kirkland will make his first Premier League appearance since August in goal for Wigan.

Current number one Ali Al Habsi is ineligible for the game against his parent club so former England stopper Kirkland comes in. Youngster Lee Nicholls will be on the bench, with veteran Mike Pollitt sidelined following elbow surgery.

Striker Franco Di Santo, who had 10 stitches in his lip this week after a collision in training, and Steve Gohouri are slight doubts but club captain Gary Caldwell will not be risked as he continues his recovery from double hip surgery.

Bolton will be without the suspended Ivan Klasnic.

Klasnic came off the bench to score the winner in last week's 2-1 victory over Stoke but the Croatian striker was subsequently sent off and will sit out the match at the DW Stadium.

Andy O'Brien (hamstring) has been working with the Wanderers physio staff but is yet to rejoin full training, while Joey O'Brien, Ricardo Gardner, Jlloyd Samuel and Sean Davis remain sidelined.
