Harper: Yet to play for Hull

James Harper could take his long-awaited place in Hull's squad.

Harper, a free summer signing from Sheffield United, has yet to make his first appearance for the Tigers due to a broken foot sustained in pre-season training.

Hull are expected to be without key man Jimmy Bullard again. The former Wigan and Fulham midfielder is still struggling to recover full fitness following his latest knee injury, which has forced him to miss the last two matches.

Goalkeeper Matt Duke is expected to continue, with Vito Mannone, drafted in on loan in time to make the squad for the midweek home defeat to Sheffield United, again on the bench.

Craig Fagan is still struggling with a groin injury as the Tigers chase their first win in five league matches.

Portsmouth welcome back captain Aaron Mokoena from suspension.

The South Africa international served a one-match ban against Millwall on Tuesday night and makes a timely return with fellow defender Ricardo Rocha set to miss out through injury.

Rocha pulled a hamstring during the first half of the 1-0 win at The Den, forcing debutant Greg Halford to step in at centre-half.

Wolves loanee Halford is set to revert to right-back at Hull with Mokoena slotting in alongside Ibrahima Sonko in the middle.

John Utaka suffered no ill-effects from his hamstring injury in midweek and should keep his place in attack.

Striker Danny Webber (cruciate) and youngsters Tom Kilbey (knee) and Billy Goddard (shin) are still on the sidelines.
