Darius Vassell could be named on the bench for Leicester.

A lack of match fitness has kept the former England striker out of the picture since he joined the club 10 days ago, but he could make his bow on Saturday.

Vassell has not played a competitive match since leaving Turkish side Ankaragucu in May.

Fellow striker Martyn Waghorn and defenders Greg Cunningham and Kyle Naughton return to contention after being cup-tied for the visit of West Brom in midweek. Forward Dany N'Guessan could also come back into the reckoning after almost a month out with an ankle injury.

On-loan defender Curtis Davies (hamstring) and midfielder Matt Oakley (thigh) remain sidelined.

Meanwhile, defender Aleksandar Tunchev is on course to return to full training at the end of November after making good progress in his comeback from a serious knee injury.

Preston manager Darren Ferguson will still have Iain Hume at his disposal for the trip to Leicester.

Hume will stay with North End for the full 93 days of his emergency loan after agreeing a deal with his parent club Barnsley who have secured the services of striker Paul Hayes in return.

Barry Nicholson returned to reserve duty in midweek after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a broken leg but the game at the Walkers Stadium is thought to come too soon for the midfielder.

Josh King could return if he recovers from a twisted ankle while Wayne Brown and Matt James are likely to keep their places after returning to the starting line-up following injuries.

Paul Parry impressed in the reserves and is pushing for a start against the Foxes.
