Hulse: On standby to replace Helguson

Hulse: On standby to replace Helguson

Heidar Helguson will be checked ahead of the game after suffering a shoulder injury at Bristol City last week, but Rangers are hopeful he will be fit.

If Helguson is ruled out it would pave the way for Rob Hulse to make his full debut.

Hulse, a deadline-day signing from Derby, made his first appearance for his new club as a substutute at Ashton Gate after finally recovering from an Achilles injury.

Midfielders Akos Buzsaky, Lee Cook (both knee) and Martin Rowlands (calf) are set to miss out again.

Youngster Josh Parker could be on the bench after returning early from a loan spell with Northampton.

Burnley manager Brian Laws has no new injury concerns for the trip after his side came through the extra-time Carling Cup defeat to Aston Villa unscathed.

Laws has important decisions to make in the Clarets' back-line after Lee Grant deputised and impressed between the sticks in the 2-1 defeat at Villa Park and could keep his place for the trip to the league leaders, with Brian Jensen dropping to the bench.

Clarke Carlisle could retain his place in the heart of the defence after scoring a last-minute equaliser against Villa to force extra-time and may keep Leon Cort on the bench after he returns from a one-match suspension.

Chris Iwelumo was rested in midweek and is set to come back into the side with Martin Paterson making way, while Chris McCann remains a long-term absentee.
