McCormack: Pushing for Addicks start

McCormack: Pushing for Addicks start

Alan McCormack could return to the Charlton line-up for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday.

The midfielder has been restricted to a place on the bench recently due to a calf injury but is now fully fit and pushing to be involved from the start.

Defenders Miguel Llera and Chris Solly are in line to be added to the squad.

Centre-back Llera missed last weekend's win at Carlisle through illness and young right-back Solly is fit after an ankle injury.

Manager Phil Parkinson could make changes at the back after his side blew a three-goal lead at Brunton Park before eventually running out 4-3 winners.

Winger Kyel Reid is still out with an ankle injury and full-back Kelly Youga has a long-term knee problem.

Sheffield Wednesday will be without suspended skipper Darren Purse at The Valley.

Purse received his fifth booking of the season in last week's 1-1 home draw with Bournemouth and sits out a one-game ban.

Jon Otsemobor will serve the second game of his three-match ban, so Richard Hinds is expected to step up and partner Mark Beevers in central defence for his first league start of the season while Tommy Spurr provides manager Alan Irvine with another option.

Winger Jermaine Johnson was scheduled to resume training later this week and could return to the squad after missing last week's match due to a trip to America for personal reasons.

The Owls, in fourth place, are chasing their fourth away win in the league this season in their bid to climb second in the table.
