Purse: Back from a ban for Owls

Sheffield Wednesday skipper Darren Purse is expected to return to the side for the visit of Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield following suspension.

The central defender missed Saturday's defeat at Charlton after reaching five bookings, but is expected to replace stand-in Tommy Spurr, who will be vying with Daniel Jones for the left-back role.

Fellow defender Jon Otsemobor serves the final game of his three-match ban, while midfielder Tommy Miller is expected to be ok despite nursing a slight thigh strain.

Owls manager Alan Irvine, who has no other new injury or suspension problems, could be tempted to make several changes with Jermaine Johnson and James O'Connor among those pressing for a return to the starting line-up.

Irvine's side will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat in six league games.

Huddersfield will be without the services of suspended striker Alan Lee for the Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough.

Lee sits out the first of a three-game ban following his straight red card for elbowing Walsall defender Manny Smith on Saturday, leaving manager Lee Clark short of attacking options.

Lee Novak is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Robbie Simpson and Theo Robinson are on loan at Brentford and Millwall respectively.

Joe Garner could continue alongside Jordan Rhodes after stepping off the bench on Saturday, or Clark could opt to play Anthony Pilkington in a central role.

Clark has no other new injury or suspension problems, but is still without goalkeeper Alex Smithies (thigh), Gary Naysmith (foot), Gary Roberts (broken arm) and Tom Clarke (knee).
