Southampton will be without Danny Butterfield and David Connolly.

Defender Butterfield has been playing through the pain of a thigh problem recently and a small tear was discovered before Saturday's win over Notts County.

Summer signing Frazer Richardson, who had been sidelined since pre-season with a shoulder injury, finally made his debut in Butterfield's absence and will continue at right-back.

Striker Connolly is still missing with a stomach problem but boss Nigel Adkins has plenty of attacking options in Rickie Lambert, Lee Barnard, Nicholas Bignall and Guly Do Prado.

Midfielder Richard Chaplow plays the final game of his initial one-month loan from Preston but Adkins is holding talks over an extension to the deal.

Meanwhile, Dagenham & Redbridge midfielders Peter Gain and Danny Green will return for the clash.

The pair both missed the 1-1 draw with Hartlepool on Saturday thanks to one-match suspensions but will return in place of Darren Currie and Damian Scannell.

Cardiff loanee Solomon Taiwo will keep his place in the centre of midfield after his first 90 minutes of the season at the weekend.

Defenders Abu Ogogo and Will Antwi are both in full training after their hamstring injuries but will not be considered for the trip.

Still's side are still looking for their first away win of the season and have never played the Saints in any competition before.
