Petrov: Set for place on bench

Petrov: Set for place on bench

Bolton winger Martin Petrov returns to the squad to face Spurs in the lunchtime kick-off.

The Bulgarian sat out the 1-0 home defeat by Liverpool at the weekend because of a slight hamstring strain.

Petrov, however, may have to settle for a place on the bench with Matt Taylor set to retain his place in the team.

Joey O'Brien, Ricardo Gardner, Jlloyd Samuel and Sean Davis are all still sidelined with long-term injuries.

Rafael van der Vaart will miss out with a hamstring injury.

Tuesday night's Champions League victory over Inter Milan saw Holland star Van der Vaart aggravate the problem picked up in last weekend's defeat at Manchester United.

Aaron Lennon is also doubtful with a hamstring injury, goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes returns from suspension, while captain Ledley King and Vedran Corluka (both groin) are still out.

Jermain Defoe, Michael Dawson (both ligament damage), Jamie O'Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) are long-term absentees.

One Guy's Genuinely Irked About Fixtures

A Gooner in the Mailbox seems to genuinely think that the world/fixture computer is against his team. Sigh. That, plus more cool footballers & Mike Ashley: Supervillain...

Twas The Worst Game I Ever Did See...

In this Mailbox it's England v Algeria in 2010 that is seen as the nadir, but there's potential for worse, surely. Plus, one man says we should praise Rooney's honesty...
