Shawcross: Back after suspension

Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross is back in contention after serving a one-game suspension against Birmingham following his red card at Sunderland.

He is likely to return to the back four and another change could see Tuncay, who was rested on Tuesday, return in place of Ricardo Fuller.

The Jamaican has only recently returned from a shoulder injury and Tony Pulis has hinted he will not be fit enough for a second game in five days.

The Potters have no other major injury concerns ahead of the game at the Britannia Stadium.

Liverpool boss Roy Hodsgon is likely to have a number of stars available again but Joe Cole and Glen Johnson have both been ruled out of the game.

Cole has missed the last three matches with a hamstring problem while Johnson has been sidelined for two games with a groin injury.

However, centre-back Sotirios Kyrgiakos is set to return after missing matches against Chelsea and Wigan with tonsillitis while goalkeeper Brad Jones (shoulder) is fit to take his place on the bench. Midfielder Raul Meireles will be assessed after being forced off at half-time with sickness against Wigan in midweek.

Stoke (from): Begovic, Sorensen, Nash, Huth, Faye, Shawcross, Collins, Higginbotham, Wilkinson, Wilson, Diao, Delap, Whitehead, Whelan, Etherington, Pennant, Walters, Gudjohnsen, Fuller, Jones, Tuncay.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Konchesky, Lucas, Gerrard, Meireles, Kuyt, Rodriguez, Torres, Jones, Aurelio, Kelly, Poulsen, Spearing, Shelvey, Jovanovic, Ngog.
