Cardiff boss Dave Jones will assess the fitness of three players ahead of the game with Nottingham Forest.

Chris Burke, Lee Naylor and Darcy Blake were forced off during last weekend's 4-2 win at Scunthorpe because of muscle injuries.

They will be assessed but striker Jay Bothroyd will be back in Cardiff colours after making his England debut as a second-half substitute appearance in Wednesday's 2-1 friendly defeat to France at Wembley.

Jason Koumas, who has struggled so far to reach the heights achieved during his first spell at the club, could earn a starting role if Burke fails to recover in time.

Koumas said: "The manager knows what he is doing with me and I am comfortable with the way things are going."

Nottingham Forest have no new problems ahead of the trip to south Wales to face Championship leaders Cardiff.

Striker David McGoldrick is still nursing the knee ligament strain that ruled him out against QPR.

Back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow also missed out last weekend with a shoulder problem and he remains sidelined.

Kelvin Wilson is receiving intensive treatment on the back problem that has seen him sit out the last three matches and the defender is still a doubt.

Dele Adebola may have forced his way into the starting line-up after impressing boss Billy Davies with a 30-minute cameo from the bench against QPR.

Fellow forwards Nathan Tyson and Robert Earnshaw will also be hoping for recalls.
