Becchio: LIkely to be restored to Leeds attack

Norwich midfielder Korey Smith has been ruled out of the game with fellow high-flyers Leeds.

The 19-year-old sustained an ankle injury from a heavy challenge by Reading's Jem Karacan at the end of last Saturday's controversial 3-3 draw at the Madejski Stadium.

Matthew Gill, who would have been a possible replacement, is also out with a calf injury which has left manager Paul Lambert short of options in midfield.

Defender Michael Nelson and midfielder Andrew Surman are not yet ready to return despite playing in a behind-closed-doors reserve game against Ipswich during the week while Adam Drury (calf) is still absent.

Lambert has revealed he has been looking to bring in a midfielder on loan in time for the game but admitted it was "more unlikely than likely to happen".

However, Lambert is boosted by the availability of captain Grant Holt after he had his red card at Reading rescinded at an FA hearing on Tuesday following an appeal.

The game is a 26,300 sell-out and will set a new all-seater record for the stadium and Lambert added: "The crowd will make the game. They'll come in their thousands and it's got the makings of a great game."

Simon Grayson must decide whether to recall Luciano Becchio for the game or retain Davide Somma up front.

Becchio was named among the substitutes last week, but stepped off the bench to score a second-half hat-trick in the 3-1 win over Bristol City, while Somma made his international bow for South Africa in midweek and could be rested.

Another striker, Ross McCormack, staked his claim for a place in Grayson's side with a hat-trick for the reserves in midweek.

Grayson has no new injury or suspension problems as his side chase a fourth straight league win away from Elland Road, with only defender Patrick Kisnorbo (knee) currently receiving treatment.

Richard Naylor came through 90 minutes for the second string unscathed following a knee injury and goalkeeper Shane Higgs is challenging again following a hamstring injury.
