Hill: Could return for Tykes

Barnsley manager Mark Robins could welcome back Matt Hill for the South Yorkshire derby.

The on-loan Wolves defender is nearing a return from a hairline foot fracture and may be ready in time to face the Blades.

Meanwhile, midfielder Martin Devaney and striker Liam Dickinson have both returned from their loan spells at Walsall. Devaney is currently struggling with a hamstring injury and is unlikely to feature but Dickinson could be recalled to the Tykes squad.

Nathan Doyle returns from suspension having sat out the goalless draw with Watford after being booked for the fifth time this season.

Long-term absentee Jay McEveley has started gym work after a medial ligament injury while Luke Potter has also begun his rehabilitation from a knee problem, but both players are not expected to be back in action until the New Year.

Sheffield United manager Gary Speed has limited striking options for the game.

Daniel Bogdanovic serves the second game of a three-match ban after his sending off in the 3-2 win over Crystal Palace and Richard Cresswell is also unavailable as he starts his three-match ban following his dismissal in the loss at Bristol City.

Jamie Ward is doubtful with an Achilles injury and Darius Henderson is also occupying the sidelines through injury, which leaves Ched Evans the only striking option at Speed's disposal.

Speed could hand on-loan Wolves defender Danny Batth his debut in defence after he signed for the Blades on loan deadline day while defender Chris Morgan (knee) and Lee Williamson (back) are still ruled out.

Andy Reid, who extended his loan with United until the New Year, is set to continue in midfield.
