Eagles: Could start for Burnley

Burnley caretaker boss Stuart Gray could hand winger Chris Eagles a starting role after he impressed as a substitute during Tuesday's 2-0 home defeat to Scunthorpe in what proved to be Brian Laws' final game in charge.

Eagles replaced Wade Elliott at half-time and Gray may now opt to shake things up following the insipid nature of the Clarets' display against the Iron.

Midfielder Dean Marney and striker Chris Iwelumo could also earn recalls to the starting line-up as Gray seeks an immediate response from his players.

Midfielder Chris McCann remains a long-term injury absentee but Burnley have no other major concerns as they bid to avoid a third successive home defeat.

Sheffield United's new manager Micky Adams will be without suspended trio Kyle Bartley, Stephen Quinn and Nick Montgomery.

Defender Andy Taylor is also ruled out after being carried off in the 2-0 defeat to Hull with a leg injury but midfielder Leon Britton is hoping to return after missing the 4-2 defeat at Norwich on Tuesday due to a back spasm.

Defender Bartley and midfielder Montgomery received their fifth bookings of the season at Carrow Road and sit out one-game bans.

Midfielder Quinn was sent off for violent conduct in the closing stages against Norwich and will start a three-match suspension.

On-loan midfielder Andy Reid is also set to be banned after he was handed a retrospective charge of violent conduct for his part in the mass melee at Carrow Road.

Stephen Jordan is sidelined with ankle and knee injuries. Fellow defender Danny Batth has returned to Wolves but full-back Rob Kozluk, strikers Jamie Ward and Daniel Bogdanovic and utility man Johnny Ertl will all come into contention.
