Lappin: Back after suspension

Norwich manager Paul Lambert will have Leon Barnett and Simon Lappin back from suspension.

Centre-half Barnett completed a two-game ban by missing the 1-0 home win over leaders QPR while left-back Lappin served a one-match suspension.

The duo could come in for Zak Whitbread and Adam Drury, who made their first starts after long injury absences against Rangers, although their fine displays will have given manager Paul Lambert a welcome selection dilemma.

Wes Hoolahan will continue in midfield if David Fox is not fit.

Defender Elliott Ward (calf) and midfielders Henri Lansbury (hamstring) and Andrew Surman (knee) are out.

Lambert must also decide whether to stick with three forwards - Aaron Wilbraham, Chris Martin and Grant Holt - at The Riverside.

Middlesbrough will be without Scott McDonald.

The striker will now link up with his Australia team-mates for the Asian Cup and could be missing for up to a month.

Gary O'Neil, who has been linked with a January move away from Boro, was missing at Leeds on Saturday with an illness but he could come back into the reckoning.

Midfielder Kevin Thomson is doubtful after taking a whack on the calf at Elland Road so Barry Robson, who shrugged off a virus to come on as a substitute, could start.

Centre-half David Wheater needed stitches in a head injury but he will be patched up.

Jonathan Franks (hernia) is not far away but Stephen McManus (ankle), Willo Flood (knee), Rhys Williams (pelvis) and Matt Kilgallon (back) remain on the sidelines.
