Kitson: Returns from a ban

Kitson: Returns from a ban

Pompey will be without Greg Halford against the Tigers.

The on-loan Wolves defender is suspended following his red card during Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Watford.

But striker Dave Kitson returns from a one-match ban and winger Liam Lawrence is available after completing his permanent switch from Stoke.

Midfield duo Michael Brown and Richard Hughes will not be considered until their contract issues are resolved - both players will be entitled to automatic extensions to their current deals if they make one more appearance.

With Pompey's resources stretched, defender Hermann Hreidarsson could be pressed into action for only his second start of the season following a career-threatening Achilles injury.

Forward Danny Webber is still out with a cruciate injury.

Hull will be without suspended defender Liam Rosenior for the clash at Portsmouth.

Rosenior was shown a straight red card in the home defeat to Leicester on New Year's Day for a challenge which left visiting defender Greg Cunningham with a broken leg and starts a three-game ban.

Kevin Kilbane has joined Huddersfield on loan, so Paul McShane or Nolberto Solano will be in contention to start in place of Rosenior.

Latest recruit Aaron McLean, signed from Peterborough in time to step off the bench in place of Jamie Devitt in the 36th minute against Leicester, is hoping to make his first start.

Winger Richard Garcia will be sidelined for a month due to surgery to resolve a knee problem and on-loan Vito Mannone has returned to Arsenal for treatment on a thigh injury, so Brad Guzan is expected to retain his place in goal.

Central defender Anthony Gerrard shook off an Achilles injury in time to face Leicester, while midfielder Jimmy Bullard is in contention to start after playing the whole of the second half on Saturday as he works his way back to full fitness following a long-term knee injury.
