Marcus Tudgay returns to the Nottingham Forest squad for the visit of Portsmouth.

The striker was ineligible against Preston in the FA Cup having already played in the competition for former club Sheffield Wednesday.

Tudgay will challenge fit-again David McGoldrick and Robert Earnshaw for a place in the starting line-up.

Boss Billy Davies has plenty of attacking options, with Dele Adebola, Garath McCleary and Nathan Tyson also available for recalls.

Captain Paul McKenna and fellow midfielder Radoslaw Majewski are also in contention to return to the team.

Forest are unbeaten at the City Ground in 31 Championship matches and have lost just one game in all competitions since they were beaten in the reverse fixture at Fratton Park at the end of October.

Dave Kitson and Greg Halford are suspended for Pompey's trip to Nottingham.

Striker Kitson starts a three-match ban after he was sent off early on during last weekend's FA Cup defeat at Brighton.

Defender Halford rejoined the Fratton Park outfit on loan from Wolves until the end of the season on Thursday, but he is still suspended following his red card against Watford on New Year's Day.

Midfielders Richard Hughes and Michael Brown are again ruled out due to their ongoing contract issues.

However, winger Liam Lawrence and defender Ricardo Rocha will bolster manager Steve Cotterill's threadbare squad.

Lawrence has not trained all week after suffering a hip injury at Brighton, but has declared himself fit, while Rocha is poised to return from a hamstring problem.
