Paul Gallagher could be fit for Leicester's trip to Sheffield United.
The forward missed the home win over Millwall nine days ago with a knee injury sustained during the FA Cup replay defeat to Manchester City at Eastlands.
Should Gallagher be fit it could pave the way for Martyn Waghorn to leave the club ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline, especially following the loan signing of Daniel Uchechi from FC Dender.
Uchechi could be involved at Bramall Lane, while Chelsea left-back Patrick Van Aanholt is in line to make his debut.
Franck Moussa, Matt Oakley and Steve Howard are options for boss Sven-Goran Eriksson should he wish to make further changes.
New Sheffield United signings Michael Doyle and Neill Collins are expected to make their debuts in the game. Doyle, 29, who signed a two-year deal last week after leaving Coventry on a free transfer, is likely to go straight into the midfield.
Collins has arrived from Leeds for an undisclosed fee having had a previous loan spell at Bramall Lane.
Skipper Chris Morgan is out for the rest of the season with knee cartilage damage but recent loan signings Shane Lowry and Joe Mattock have added strength to manager Micky Adams' defence, while another loan signing, striker Marcus Bent, is in contention for his second appearance following his arrival from Birmingham earlier this month.
Defender Matt Lowton and midfielder Lee Williamson both recovered from groin problems to make the bench in the defeat to Norwich last time out.
Stephen Jordan, sidelined since the end of November due to an ankle injury, returned to full training 10 days ago, but will have a run out with the reserves before being recalled to the first-team squad.
