Watford could hand a debut to Danny Drinkwater against Crystal Palace.

The Manchester United midfielder signed on loan last week after a similar spell at Cardiff and could feature after missing the FA Cup defeat to Brighton at the weekend.

Drinkwater was cup-tied but can play along with Tottenham winger Andros Townsend - who also missed out against the League One side.

Captain John Eustace could start after returning from a calf injury sustained against Portsmouth on New Year's Day.

Midfielder Ross Jenkins had a tight hamstring and failed a late fitness test at the weekend so is doubtful, while Scottish winger Don Cowie is still out with a thigh strain.

Palace manager Dougie Freedman has no new injury worries for the trip to Hertfordshire.

Defender Lee Hills remains the only absentee with a long-term knee injury.

Freedman is hoping to tie up the signing of Derby defender Dean Moxey but he will not be available as he is still suspended following his sending-off against Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Teenager Matthew Parsons impressed at left-back on his full debut in Saturday's goalless draw against Norwich and looks set to keep his place.

Freedman could name an unchanged starting line-up, although January signings Steffen Iversen and Jermaine Easter are pushing to be involved.

The Eagles are still in the drop zone despite their battling point at the weekend.
