Tottenham's mounting injury problems in defence mean that Jonathan Woodgate could make his first appearance for 14 months.

Woodgate has been out with a long-standing groin injury but he may have to start given that Ledley King (groin), Younes Kaboul (knee) and Michael Dawson (suspension) are definitely out and William Gallas is struggling with a hip injury.

Wilson Palacios has recovered from a knee injury but Gareth Bale (back) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) remain sidelined.

Roque Santa Cruz will be out for a couple of weeks with a groin strain.

Ryan Nelsen and Gael Givet will have late fitness tests and manager Steve Kean will not throw transfer deadline day signings Mauro Formica and Ruben Rochina into the fray.

El-Hadji Diouf has moved to Rangers on loan and there could be a start in attack for Nikola Kalinic.

Blackburn (from): Robinson, Samba, Olsson, Nelsen, Salgado, Givet, Dunn, Pedersen, Hoilett, Kalinic, MB Diouf, Lowe, Roberts, Benjani, Nzonzi, Hanley, Andrews, Grella, J Jones, Bunn, Brown.

Tottenham (from): Gomes, Pletikosa, Cudicini, Hutton, Corluka, Gallas, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Khumalo, Woodgate, Sandro, Palacios, Jenas, Lennon, Modric, Pienaar, Van der Vaart, Crouch, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe.
