Gallagher: Back in contention

Paul Gallagher could return to the Leicester starting line-up.

The forward missed the home win over Millwall a fortnight ago with a knee injury sustained during the FA Cup replay defeat to Manchester City at Eastlands.

He returned to action as a second-half substitute against Sheffield United on Tuesday night and suffered no ill effects following a 30-minute cameo at Bramall Lane.

Chelsea left-back Patrick Van Aanholt made his debut against the Blades and the Dutchman should keep his place to make his first home appearance.

Sven-Goran Eriksson does have options should he wish to freshen things up. Bruno Berner, Jack Hobbs, Matt Oakley, Steve Howard and Martyn Waghorn all started on the bench in midweek.

Barnsley skipper Stephen Foster is rated 50/50 for his side's clash at manager Mark Robins' former club.

Foster has missed the last two matches due to a gashed shin sustained in the recent win at Doncaster and, if he is not ready, Robins will retain a back four of Jason Shackell, Matt Hill, Bobby Hassell and Kieran Trippier.

Robins revealed several unspecified players were carrying knocks picked up in the midweek win over Preston and could face late fitness tests, while long-term absentees Jay McEveley and Luke Potter are still out with their respective knee injuries.

Recent loan signings Jacob Mellis, from Chelsea, and Frank Nouble, from West Ham, are both expected to retain their places in Robins' starting line-up, while Jacob Butterfield and Jim O'Brien are pushing for recalls.
