Leacock: Could face Hull

Leacock: Could face Hull

Derby hope Dean Leacock will return to the squad for the visit of the Tigers.

The defender missed the Rams' goalless draw with Scunthorpe on Saturday due to illness.

Stephen Pearson and James Bailey were also absent at Glanford Park and could come back into the reckoning.

Pearson is nursing the bruised shin that forced him off at half-time against Leicester nine days ago, while Bailey has missed the last two matches with a groin strain he sustained in the draw at Portsmouth on February 5.

Defenders Russell Anderson (calf) and Jake Buxton (groin) remain sidelined but are nearing a return.

"They could be training in a week to 10 days. We have got a reserve game next week and Russell thinks he has got a chance for that, maybe Jake as well," said manager Nigel Clough, who is trying to sign a striker in time to face the Tigers.

Hull will be without teenager Cameron Stewart and are bracing themselves for the scan results following the winger's knee injury.

The 19-year-old damaged ligaments and was stretchered off during the closing stages of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Ipswich.

He is definitely out of the midweek clash and Saturday's visit of Cardiff.

Jamie Devitt is a likely replacement for Stewart, but Tigers manager Nigel Pearson has no other new injury or suspension problems and is unlikely to make any other changes.

Striker Jay Simpson will hope he has done enough to force his way back into the starting line-up after stepping off the substitutes' bench to head a late equaliser at Portman Road.

Jack Hobbs, on loan from Leicester, James Harper and Tom Cairney are all hoping to feature.
