Coles: Injury doubt for Pirates

Coles: Injury doubt for Pirates

Bristol Rovers caretaker manager Stuart Campbell has injury concerns over several players ahead of the game.

Campbell, who earned three points in his first game in charge of Rovers following the sacking of Dave Penney, is sweating on the fitness of defensive duo Byron Anthony and Danny Coles, who missed the midweek win at Tranmere through injury.

The duo are struggling with ankle injuries and will be assessed on Friday before Campbell names his squad.

Midfielders Harry Pell and Gavin Williams are injury doubts after picking up knocks against Tranmere and face late fitness tests.

Some good news for the Pirates is that Jerel Ifil returns from a one-match suspension and the versatile JP Kalala is available after recovering from a toe injury.

Huddersfield will be without winger Anthony Pilkington for the game, but Jordan Rhodes is expected to feature.

Pilkington's season is over after he dislocated his ankle and broke his fibula in the midweek win over Rochdale, while Rhodes, struggling for full fitness following a recent illness, was replaced by Danny Cadamarteri after an hour on Tuesday night.

But Rhodes is likely to start again, with on-loan Arsenal teenager Benik Afobe alongside him after he scored his first goal for Town in midweek.

Jack Hunt will continue at right-back as Lee Peltier sits out the second game of a four-match ban, but central defender Antony Kay is doubtful due to ankle ligament damage, so Jamie McCombe is on stand-by.

Midfielder Joey Gudjonsson is expected to miss out again due to a hamstring strain and Alex Smithies will continue in goal following his return to the side in midweek due to Ian Bennett's groin injury.
