Cork: Back at Chelsea

Cork: Back at Chelsea

Burnley boss Eddie Howe will be without midfielder Jack Cork.

The on-loan Chelsea youngster has returned to Stamford Bridge for medical tests after being taken ill on England international duty in Preston on Monday night.

Cork spent the night in hospital after suffering heart palpitations during the 2-1 defeat against Iceland at Deepdale.

Cork is thought to be suffering from a virus, but Howe is confident he will return to play a part in the Clarets' promotion push before the end of the season.

Strikers Charlie Austin, Steven Thompson and Martin Paterson and midfielder Chris McCann all remain sidelined through injury.

Austin and Paterson may not play again this term but Thompson and McCann are working towards match fitness.

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is sweating over the fitness of midfielder Kieron Dyer.

The on-loan West Ham man is nursing a thigh injury but has returned to training and could face the Clarets.

Jewell is also assessing the state of his squad after losing eight of his players to international duty for the past 10 days.

Captain Gareth McAuley was handed the skipper's armband for Northern Ireland on Tuesday night and should be fit to start at Turf Moor.

Striker Tamas Priskin has joined Swansea on loan for the rest of the season while young midfielder Reggie Lambe was sent to Bristol Rovers.

Goalkeeper Brian Murphy made his comeback after three months out with a broken ankle in a reserve game last week and could be involved.
