Balanta: Back in contention for Dons

Balanta: Back in contention for Dons

Dale Stephens has been added to the Southampton squad.

Stephens joined Saints on loan from Oldham last week and could make an immediate debut for Nigel Adkins' side with an injury concern hanging over Adam Lallana while fellow midfielders Alex Chamberlain and Morgan Schneiderlin miss out.

Lallana should recover from a groin injury in time but teenage star Chamberlain rolled his ankle against Charlton a fortnight ago and is possibly looking at a couple of weeks on the sidelines.

Schneiderlin is still out with a knee injury and joins winger Lee Holmes (ankle) and striker David Connolly (groin) in the treatment room.

Midfielder Oscar Gobern serves the final game of the three-match ban he received for his red card at Bournemouth.

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson could hand Angelo Balanta a start.

The on-loan QPR striker made his return to first-team action as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Walsall last week after being sidelined since November with an ankle injury and is pushing for a starting place.

Fellow loanee Keanu Marsh-Brown has returned to fitness following a groin injury but is likely to have to settle for a place on the bench.

Midfielder Adam Clayton, who has joined the Dons on loan from Leeds until the end of the season, was an un-used substitute against the Saddlers and will be hoping to make his debut against Saints.

Luke Chadwick, fresh from signing a new two-year contract at stadium:mk this week, should continue in midfield as the Dons look to continue their push for promotion at St Mary's.
