The former Robins defender was on Thursday promoted from Under-18s manager in the wake of Paul Hart's departure as interim boss. But he could do little to prevent Town from extending their sorry run to one win in 23 while Oldham registered only their second victory in 18 attempts.

Bodin included his son Billy in his starting XI for what was the 19-year-old forward's first league start. But one moment of quality gave Oldham a half-time lead in what was a drab end of season encounter.

Chris Taylor picked up the ball just inside the Swindon half in the 17th minute, cut in from the left and fired into the top corner from 25 yards.

Taylor, with his second of the game, then made it 2-0 in the 65th minute when Swindon failed to clear and he smashed in a low 20-yard drive to beat Phil Smith.

Swindon rang the changes in search of a reply but the only effort that caused the visitors any problem was a Matt Ritchie header well saved by Dean Brill in the visitors' goal.
