Ferrie Bodde will be missing until the new year with a knee injury while fellow midfielder Joe Allen is also sidelined following a shoulder operation he underwent at the start of the summer.

Striker Craig Beattie has picked up a calf problem that is expected to rule him out for a couple of weeks.

Midfielder Tom Butler is also likely to be watching from the stands for the same amount of time due to a thigh injury.

Blackpool target Angel Rangel will start at right-back in the Championship opener at the KC Stadium amid rumours surrounding his future.

Meanwhile, summer signings Scott Donnelly and Neil Taylor will also be hoping to feature in Rodgers' plans.
