Thomas, who signed a one-year deal last week following his release from Southampton, stepped off the substitutes' bench to replace Shelton Martis against Bristol City last weekend.

Manager Sean O'Driscoll could be without James Hayter again. The striker missed out last Saturday due to a hamstring strain, so Dean Shiels is likely to continue alongside Billy Sharp up front.

James Coppinger, a second-half substitute last weekend, is pushing for a return to the starting line-up after shaking off a leg injury while striker Steve Brooker, fit again after his ankle injury nightmare, is hoping to play a bigger part following two previous cameo appearances.

Midfielder John Oster and defender James Chambers remain sidelined with their respective knee injuries.
