McCann: Set for late fitness test

Peterborough captain Grant McCann will again be given a late fitness test ahead of the visit of Notts County.

McCann returned to the starting line-up in the 2-1 win over MK Dons on Saturday after missing the Carling Cup defeat to Swansea with a muscle strain but is still not 100% fit.

New loan signing Matt Gill could continue in midfield after impressing on his debut at the weekend.

He was signed on loan from Norwich as a replacement for James Wesolowski, who is suffering from knee ligament damage, but is short of match fitness and could struggle to make two games in four days.

Former Wolves full-back Mark Little could return to the starting line-up after making his comeback from a knee injury as a late substitute against the Dons, but Ryan Bennett and Lee Frecklington remain sidelined with knee injuries of their own.

Notts County will be without striker Lee Hughes for their trip to London Road.

The 34-year-old is set to go for a scan on a groin and hip injury to assess the extent of the problem, but manager Craig Short hopes last season's top scorer will be fit to face Sheffield Wednesday at Meadow Lane at the weekend.

Hughes aggravated the injury in the warm-up before the game at Bristol Rovers on Saturday and was unable to play in the 2-1 defeat.

Ben Burgess (calf) will also miss out at London Road, but fellow forward Luke Rodgers will be in the squad for the first time this season following ankle and thigh injuries.
