Ravenhill: Sitting out through suspension

Notts County midfielder Ricky Ravenhill is suspended for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday.

Ravenhill became the third Notts player in as many matches to receive a red card when he was sent off in the closing stages of the win at Peterborough in midweek and he will serve a one-match ban.

Liam Chilvers returned from suspension as an unused substitute at London Road, while fellow defender Graeme Lee is now back from his ban and available to face the Owls.

Craig Westcarr is a doubt after he sustained a knock on Tuesday night but it is hoped that Lee Hughes will return to the squad after a scan on his groin and hip problem. Ben Burgess remains sidelined by a calf complaint.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Alan Irvine could hand Paul Heffernan his first league start and recall Neil Mellor at Notts County.

Irvine, who has no new injury or suspension worries, saw his side fail to score for the second successive match in the goalless home draw with Oldham in midweek when opting to partner Clinton Morrison up front alongside Marcus Tudgay.

The Owls boss has several options and Heffernan is pressing his claims for a start after another decent showing off the substitutes' bench on Tuesday night.

Winger Gary Teale and midfielder Darren Potter are also hoping for bigger roles after Irvine made five changes for the clash with the Latics.

Long-term absentee Jermaine Johnson (knee ligaments) is scheduled to return to full training next week and has targeted a return to first-team action before the end of October.
