Chaplow: Set for second Saints bow

Richard Chaplow will be added to the Southampton squad for the south-coast derby against Bournemouth.

The Preston midfielder has joined Saints on loan for the second time in his career as cover for Paul Wotton, who is sidelined with a back injury.

Defender Aaron Martin played in a midweek practice match to prove his fitness after a back problem and is pushing for a place in the starting line-up.

Bournemouth-bred midfielder Adam Lallana has made two substitute appearances after six weeks out with knee injury and could also be in line for a start.

Striker David Connolly is set to miss out again with a stomach injury and full-back Frazer Richardson is still having treatment on a shoulder problem.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will again be without striker Harry Arter.

Arter has missed the last two games with a groin injury and has now undergone surgery to remedy the problem and is expected to be out for two to three weeks.

Stephen Purches is also sidelined for the game with a back problem. The defender has not appeared in a Cherries shirt since the goalless draw against Torquay in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on 31 August but is back in light training.

Steve Fletcher is again pushing for a starting place after appearing as a substitute in the last three matches but Howe is likely to stick with in-form strike duo Michael Symes and Josh McQuoid, who have scored nine league goals between them this season.

Tim Stephenson (knee ligaments), Mark Molesley (foot) and Steve Lovell (ankle) remain long-term absentees.
