Lampard: Will start training with the squad next week

Striker Fernando Torres will return to Liverpool's starting XI for Sunday's visit of Chelsea after being rested for the Europa League win over Napoli.

David Ngog, whose fitness will be assessed after a severe tackle from Salvatore Aronica last night, will make way for the Spain international.

Midfielder Maxi Rodriguez will also come back in while there is an outside chance Dirk Kuyt could return after missing the last five games with an ankle injury.

Defender Glen Johnson is set for his first Barclays Premier League appearance for a month after making his comeback from a thigh problem against Napoli.

Ryan Babel could return to the squad after a rib injury but Joe Cole will not face his former club as he is sidelined by a hamstring injury.

Chelsea will still be without Frank Lampard for the trip.

He will start training with the squad next week and coach Carlo Ancelotti also has doubts over Florent Malouda and Michael Essien (toe), with Malouda most likely to be fit.

The Italian coach named nine of the starters for the game with decisions to be made over Malouda or Salomon Kalou in attack and Ramires or Essien in midfield.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Konchesky, Lucas, Meireles, Rodriguez, Gerrard, Kuyt, Torres, Jones, Jovanovic, Kyrgiakos, Ngog, Spearing, Shelvey, Kelly, Babel, Poulsen.

Blues (from): Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Cole, Obi, Essien or Ramires, Zhirkov, Drogba, Anelka, Kalou or Malouda. Subs: Turnbull, Van Aanholt, McEachran, Borini, Bruma, Ferriera, Sturridge, Kakuta.
