Frank Lampard has recovered from hernia surgery but the England midfielder has since sustained a slight groin problem and will miss the game.

Didier Drogba is back, though, after being suspended for the midweek Champions League game against Marseille.

Chelsea are without injured striker Salomon Kalou (thigh) and midfielder Yossi Benayoun (calf).

Arsenal will be without captain Cesc Fabregas (hamstring), while England Under-21 full-back Kieran Gibbs (calf) is also sidelined.

Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia (elbow) remains out, meaning Lukasz Fabianski is again set to deputise after impressing in the midweek Champions League victory at Partizan Belgrade, while midfielder Abou Diaby returns to the squad after an ankle problem.

Thomas Vermaelen (Achilles), Nicklas Bendtner (groin), Aaron Ramsey (leg), Theo Walcott and Robin van Persie (both ankle) are still absent.
