Van der Vaart: Rated 50-50

Rafael van der Vaart is only rated "50-50" by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp to return from an ankle knock for the game.

Holland star van der Vaart missed Wednesday's Champions League win over Werder Bremen with the problem and also sat out training on Friday morning.

Also on Friday, Jermaine Jenas was set to undergo a scan on the calf injury that forced him off against Bremen, which could determine his availability, Michael Dawson (ligament damage) is back in training, but Giovani dos Santos (groin) looks to be out, while captain Ledley King (groin), Jamie O'Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) are long-term absentees.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will welcome Joe Cole back into their squad.

The England international has missed five games with a hamstring injury but is likely to get a place on the bench despite lacking match fitness.

Jamie Carragher, on his 450th Premier League appearance, will continue to captain the side in the absence of Steven Gerrard (hamstring).
