Balotelli is expected to return on Sunday when City travel to Sunderland in the Premier League after suffering discomfort in Romania where he scored the winning goal in the first leg.

England midfielder James Milner will sit out the match as he was not registered in time while Aleksander Kolarov, Jerome Boateng and Wayne Bridge are ruled out through injury.

City lead 1-0 ahead of the second leg at Eastlands.
